WPL 2024: MI and RCB Playoff Qualification Scenarios Following the Bengaluru Match
After 11 games of the 20-match league season, Delhi Capitals led the points table, signaling the end of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. With three clubs finishing with six points, the Capitals are not alone. It’s becoming more apparent now how likely it is for teams to make the playoffs. Only three teams would advance to the Playoffs, with the winner going straight to the championship game and the runners-up facing off in an Eliminator.
In the WPL 2024, Gujarat Giants have performed the poorest. The Beth Mooney-led team did not even get close to the opponent, much less win one, in the four games that have been played thus far.
Their margins of loss are as follows: five wickets against Mumbai with 11 balls remaining, eight wickets against RCB with 45 balls remaining, six wickets with 26 balls remaining against Warriorz, and 25 runs against Capitals. They therefore have very little and no control over their prospects of qualifying. Furthermore It would be unjust to the other team to single out one as the most dominant.
