WPL 2024: Ellyse Perry Surpasses Lanning, Wins Orange Cap in Thrilling Season

WPL 2024: Ellyse Perry Surpasses Lanning, Wins Orange Cap in Thrilling Season

The Women’s Premier League’s second season is coming to a close on Sunday when Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals square off in the championship game at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

With 312 runs in nine games at an average of 62.40, RCB all-around sensation Ellyse Perry is top of the orange cap list. DC captain Meg Lanning is right behind her in second place with 308 runs in nine games.

The Delhi Capitals, led by Meg Lanning, had yet another setback when they were eliminated from the Women’s Premier League championship game twice in a row. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Smriti Mandhana, defeated the Delhi Capitals by eight wickets to win the title this year; the Mumbai Indians had won it the year before.

The bowlers dominated today’s game as the powerful DC hitters were absolutely devastated by an incredible spell from RCB’s Shreyanka Patil. The WPL finals 2024 saw the Delhi Capitals restricted to a pitiful 113 runs thanks to Sophie Molineux and Patil’s successful three-wicket over.
