WPL 2024: Despite Loss to DC, RCB Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive- Here’s How
WPL 2024: Despite Loss to DC, RCB Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive- Here’s How
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 playoff berths for the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have already been confirmed. Now, for them, the only thing that matters is who tops the table to advance to the final. But there’s still one playoff slot left, and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and UP Warriorz (UPW) are the two teams fighting for it.
After seven games, RCB and the Warriorz have each collected six points. But third place goes to Smriti Mandhana’s Challengers thanks to their better net run rate of +0.027. Conversely, the Warriorz have a -0.365 net run rate. After RCB’s 1 run defeat to the Capitals on Sunday, March 10 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, the situation became more tricky.
Warriorz and RCB would not automatically qualify for the playoffs with just a victory in their subsequent game. With the Mumbai Indians (MI) their opponent in their penultimate and final league game on March 12, RCB has a difficult assignment ahead of them.
It’s important to remember that since the WPL’s inception last year, RCB has lost all three of its games versus MI. The Gujarat Giants (GT), who were eliminated from the competition, will be playing for dignity when the Warriorz take on them. Therefore, it can be concluded that RCB has a significant disadvantage when it comes to the final stages of the tournament.
