WPL 2024: DC pacer Arundhati Reddy fined for breaching code of conduct

Women’s pacer Arundhati Reddy of the Delhi Capitals (DC) has been fined 10% of her match fee for violating the Women’s Premier League (WPL) code of conduct during Monday’s (Feb. 26) encounter against UP Warriorz.

During DC’s crushing nine-wicket victory, Reddy returned with figures of 1/6 in three overs, but he also acknowledged committing a Level 1 offense as per article 2.5 of the league’s rulebook.”Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon her dismissal during a match” is the code that the 26-year-old broke.

In DC’s season opener against the Mumbai Indians Women, Reddy also bowled well, but ultimately the team lost. However, in their subsequent game, every one of them — her included — were in their prime.

Delhi decided to bowl first in the wake of winning the throw with an end goal to come down on the rivals immediately. Delhi, who took three quick wickets in the initial five overs and finished with the mind boggling measurements of 3/5 of every four overs, was driven by Marizanne Kapp.

Despite the tail and lower-middle overs making insignificant contributions to UP’s scoreboard, Radha maintained her exceptional form, closing with 4/20 in her allotted four overs. In the end, UP Women could only muster 119/9 in 20 overs. Delhi got off to a great start because to the attacking combination of Captain Meg Lanning and the thrilling opener Shafali Verma, who both reached 50+ within the first six overs.

After they both reached their individual fifties, Meg was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone on 51, just as Delhi was about to finish the chase without losing a wicket. Delhi won their first game of the season when Jemimah Rodrigues finished the ceremonial four. On Thursday (Feb 29), Delhi will play Royal Challengers Bangalore.
