WhatsApp to Introduce International Payments Feature via UPI for Indian Users

With the help of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) built into the program, Indian users of WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, may soon be able to send money abroad.

Soon, users with an Indian bank account will be able to complete transactions and send money to certain foreign merchants using the ‘International Payments’ feature. Only in nations where banks have approved international UPI services will this be operational, though. This feature is already offered by Google Pay and PhonePe, two other significant UPI operators in India. Neither WhatsApp nor any other app beta testers have verified the feature. It is recommended that readers interpret the information cautiously.

The integration of this feature by WhatsApp is expected to facilitate international transactions for its users. In November 2020, WhatsApp began offering in-app UPI payments to subscribers in India. The ability to make foreign payments is currently in development and could soon be available to a select group of beta testers. Not all users have access to it just yet, and more information regarding its introduction should be revealed closer to the day of release.
