WhatsApp Developing ‘Favorite Contacts Filter’ Feature for Web

According to reports, WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is developing a new “favourite contacts filter” feature that will let users prioritize their conversations and provide them more efficiency and control over messages.

According to the new feature, which WABetaInfo discovered, a future version of WhatsApp Web would include a dedicated conversation filter.

As to the source, the next feature would enable users to select their preferred contacts, manually add the ones they value most, and conveniently reach them via a specific filter.

According to the paper, WhatsApp “enables users to prioritise key conversations by allowing them to mark specific contacts as favourites, ensuring quick and easy access to those they frequently interact with.”

It further stated, “The addition of favorite contacts adds a layer of personalization, enabling users to enhance their messaging experience to suit their preferences while also streamlining the process of reaching out to frequently contacted users.”

In anticipation of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA), which is scheduled to go into force in March, rumors claim that WhatsApp is preparing to allow third-party chat apps on its network.

WhatsApp’s engineering director, Dick Brouwer, stated to Wired that the business is prepared to provide interoperability on its more than 2 billion users’ platform.

Offering other parties an easy way to benefit from this interoperability while maintaining WhatsApp’s high standards for privacy, security, and integrity presents a serious conflict. We’re fairly happy with where we’ve landed, I believe,” the paper cited him as saying.
