Virat Kohli’s India Jersey Wows Fans at Babar Azam’s Home Ground: Viral Moment from Champions Cup Match
No other cricketer enjoys a fan following in the world, and no player keeps a mark of standards on the field as Virat Kohli does. His appeal helped cricket’s case for a slot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Kohli has grown into a modern-day legend, ruling over all forms of the game and getting closer with each passing day to break several records held by Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli is as popular in India as he is around the rest of the world, including Pakistan.
Recently, Kohli’s star power was witnessed when, in a Champions One-Day Cup match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Faisalabad, there was a Pakistani fan waving an Indian team jersey with Kohli’s name inscribed on the backside.
The match involved the Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, and hence this match gained more attention with regard to the act of admiration for Kohli.
This is only one instance of Kohli’s popularity in Pakistan. During a PSL match in 2022, one fan requested a century in Pakistan via a poster that said, “I want to see your century in Pakistan #Peace.” More recently, during the T20 World Cup match against India in New York, another displayed a Kohli pendant.
He is in Chennai stadium for training as Kohli prepares for the Tests against Bangladesh. The series opens on September 19 at Chepauk Stadium, the second Test following a week later at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
This will be the first Test appearance for Kohli since January 3, after attending the South Africa tour and the first at home in 2024. He had missed the England series earlier this year due to the birth of his second child.

India would want this series to keep their lead at the top of the World Test Championship standings, thereby extending a decent home record. The series victory will inch them closer towards qualifying for a third successive WTC final as they have never lost a Test against Bangladesh and not lost a home series since 2012.
