Virat Kohli’s Six Off IPL’s Costliest Player Mitchell Starc Sparks 125 Decibel Roar in RCB vs KKR Match
In their Friday IPL 2024 encounter, RCB fell short against KKR despite having superb batting form from Virat Kohli. RCB scored 182/6 in 20 overs behind an undefeated innings of 83 runs off 59 balls from their opener. However, Faf du Plessis and company were unable to hold the score as KKR won by seven wickets, reaching 186/3 in 16.5 overs. Kohli hit four fours and four sixes during his bat, showcasing perfect shot selection. From the first delivery of the match, when Kohli smashed a four off Mitchell Starc, fans were on the edge of their seats.
The moment that Kohli hit a slow off-cutter by Starc over deep square leg for a six in the second delivery of the third over epitomized the passion of his fans! The Bengaluru audience erupted in outrage, yelling and applauding for the RCB player at 125 decibels in response. Du Plessis (8), who left early, didn’t offer much assistance to Kohli, even though he was playing well. Two solid partnerships with Glenn Maxwell (33) and Cameron Green (33) followed, with Anuj Rawat (3) and Rajat Patidar (3) both losing wickets cheaply. As RCB scored 182/6, Dinesh Karthik (20) made a late appearance.

The losing captain, Du Plessis, stated in an interview after the game, “Strange one, first innings, we thought that the wicket was very two-paced; you could see that when the guys bowled the cutters, back of a length, the guys really struggled.” We considered the score to be respectable since it does get a little easier in the evening and some dew does fall. Considering how we batted in the first inning, Virat was finding it difficult to hit the ball due to the two-paceness and lack of pace, even with someone in there.”
