AB de Villiers Trends in India After Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma Welcome Baby Akaay

The moment Virat Kohli revealed that he was expecting his second child, former South African captain AB de Villiers became popular on X (formerly Twitter). Those who kept up with Kohli’s updates weren’t shocked. After all, De Villiers was the first to formally disclose the cause of Kohli’s absence from the India vs. England Test series. The renowned South African cricket player revealed during a session on his YouTube channel that his wife Anushka Sharma’s pregnancy was the personal reason why Kohli was unable to play in the full five-match Test series against England.

The information went viral. Maybe even de Villiers could not have predicted the impact his seemingly innocuous response to a fan question may have. Most importantly, it rendered all of Kohli’s attempts to conceal the information pointless. A few days later, De Villiers—a close friend of Kohli’s for a long time and a former teammate at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)—retracted the statement and apologized in public.

“Virat Kohli, my friend, is still not available. I beg of you all to grant him the seclusion he so richly deserves. First and foremost, family. Nobody is precisely sure what is happening. I’m calling for everyone to be mindful of that. He posted an apology on his YouTube account, saying, “I apologized to the Kohli family for my slight mistake in my prior broadcast. Simply put, unpleasant. I disclosed completely unconfirmed information. I implore everyone to show him, his family, and his private time some consideration. Hopefully, Virat will return content and be ready to score runs. similar to how he typically acts.”

But on Tuesday night, Kohli announced on Instagram that he and his actress wife, Anushka Sharma, had welcomed a child into the world on February 15. Vamika, Kohli and Anushka’s three-year-old daughter, is already their child. “With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on February 15th, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay and Vamika’s little brother into this world!” Kohli tweeted. “At this lovely moment, we ask for your blessings and best wishes. Please respect our privacy at this time; we beg of you.” In the current five-match series against England, Kohli originally chose to skip the first two Test matches due to personal concerns. Later, he pulled out of the final three Test matches as well. His last action came during India’s seven-wicket victory against South Africa in the second Test, which took place in Cape Town in January. After two innings, he scored 46 and 12.
