Vir Das Makes History as First Indian to Host 2024 International Emmy Awards
Comedian-actor Vir Das has been chosen to host the prestigious 2024 International Emmys, courtesy of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Das expressed his excitement via an Instagram post: “Thanks to your love- an Indian is Emmy Hosting! Can’t bloody wait to do the @iemmys this year! Crazy. Tremendously honoured and excited!
Das, who won an Emmy in 2023 for Landing and was nominated in 2021 for his Netflix special, Vir Das: For India, will become the first Indian to host the prestigious event.
Currently, Das is on his international tour called Mind Fool, further cementing his position as an international comedian.
Apart from his stand-up success, Vir Das has created, produced and performed on a number of series including ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier; Netflix series Hasmukh; and Amazon series Jestination Unknown.
He also appeared in Judd Apatow’s The Bubble and is working on a single-camera comedy for CBS Studios and Andy Samberg. Das is also lead singer of India’s comedy-rock band, Alien Chutney.

Bruce L. Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, welcomed Das as host, saluting his singular humor and global point of view.

The 2024 International Emmy Awards will be held on November 25 in New York City.
