Vikrant Massey’s Brave Decision: Turning Down a Lucrative Film Offer Despite High Pay

Vikrant Massey’s Brave Decision: Turning Down a Lucrative Film Offer Despite High Pay

On April 3, Vikrant Massey marked his 37th birthday. At the age of sixteen, the actor received a casting call for a serial that was never shown. He had studied dance since a young age and eventually worked as an assistant instructor for renowned choreographer Shiamak Davar. The actor discussed his work and how money is not something that he is interested in in an interview he did in 2018 with Filmfare.

Vikrant Massey on rejecting a big role

At the time, Vikrant disclosed that he had just “rejected a celebrated filmmaker’s offer” for a part he wasn’t sure he would love to play. “I was tempted to take the plunge for monetary purposes alone,” Vikrant had stated. I was receiving hefty pay. But common sense won out. I was afraid I was betraying my morals and my social conscience. I reasoned that “I could make money later in life, paisa kama lenge aage phir kabhi.”

Vikrant on nepotism

The actor acknowledged that it can be challenging for a newcomer to succeed in the movie business, but he also said that nepotism can lead to equal and free possibilities. “If not for you, I wouldn’t be here today,” he had stated. The allure of this enormous sector is that merit always prevails; how you handle setbacks depends on your grit. A fear of failing keeps complacency at bay.”

Many celebrities have applauded Vikrant for his performance in his most recent movie, 12th Fail. Vikrant portrays the real-life IPS officer in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra-directed 2023 movie, which is based on Manoj Kumar Sharma’s life. Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone both praised 12th Fail earlier this year. The film has previously received accolades from director Rohit Shetty, actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty, actor-director Kamal Haasan, actors Kangana Ranaut and Sanjay Dutt, and actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar. Vikrant’s performance in 12th Fail earned him the Best Actor (Critics) award at the 2024 Filmfare Awards in January. The film also stars Medha Shankr as Shraddha Joshi, the IRS officer wife of Manoj Kumar Sharma.
