Post Office Superintendent in UP Dies by Suicide After CBI Raid, Blames Colleagues in Suicide Note

In a tragic turn of events, TP Singh, Superintendent of the Bulandshahr post office in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly died by suicide after a raid conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation officials in connection with a corruption case. The development has come from Aligarh, which is Singh’s hometown, and it was after hours of questioning by the investigating agency on Wednesday. Singh, who was posted to Bulandshahr in 2021, sent a suicide note through WhatsApp to several groups, blaming harassment by his office colleagues as the reason for his extreme step.

In the note dated August 21, 2024, Singh mentioned a host of colleagues whom he alleged harassed him and put undue pressure on him. It was in this letter addressed to the Aligarh police chief that he described a work environment full of stress and futile demands incessantly made on him—how Singh had found it unbearable.

“There has been constant pressure to get work done and there have been several complaints,” Singh wrote. He went on to directly blame specific colleagues for his decision to take his own life, expressing frustration and despair over the relentless pressure he faced.

The suicide note has gone viral on social media, which raises concerns regarding workplace harassment and pressures on central government employees.
