Three Terrorists Killed in J&K’s Baramulla: Drone Footage Reveals Another Hiding Near Encounter Site

In a major counter-terrorism operation, security forces eliminated three militants in a late-night encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The gunfight, which erupted in the Pattan area of northern Kashmir on Friday night, followed a cordon-and-search operation by the Army and police.

Drone footage accessed by News18 shows one of the injured terrorists hiding near the encounter site. Encounter has started at Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of #Baramulla,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on X, confirming that security forces were engaged in ongoing efforts.

This is the second encounter which occurred on Friday in Chatroo village of Kishtwar district, in which two soldiers were killed and two injured. Acting on a tip-off, security forces launched an operation in the Naidgham area during which the gunfight started with the terrorists.

These back-to-back encounters come as the region gears up for crucial Assembly elections. Chenab Valley, including Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts, along with several South Kashmir districts will go to the polls on September 18 in the first phase of the polling. Other areas of Jammu and Kashmir will go to the polls later this month in subsequent phases.

While this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address one major election rally in the Doda district on Saturday, which will be his first visit to the region in 42 years.

Elaborate security arrangements, including multi-tier deployments, have been made across Doda and Kishtwar to ensure the smooth conduct of the rally without any security issues. This could give the BJP an added advantage in its campaign effort in the region with polling just around the corner.
