Tesla Layoffs: Company Fires New Marketing Team Months After Launching It

In a recent round of layoffs, Tesla reportedly parted ways with its whole US “growth content” staff. As per Bloomberg, according to persons with knowledge of the matter, the team comprised approximately forty individuals, whereas the corporation maintains a small team of marketing staff members stationed in Europe. This happens in response to a comment made on X by Elon Musk, who stated that the employees who were let go “could’ve done a better job with their ads.”

“Exactly,” he wrote in his writing. The advertising could have been for any car; it was far too generic. Last week, the billionaire informed Tesla staff that he was letting go of almost 10% of the company’s personnel. It was alleged that after this, affected Tesla employees received notification within hours that their positions had been terminated. According to accounts, several workers received phone calls informing them that their jobs had been eliminated.

Will advertising roles at Tesla end?

Since May of last year, Elon Musk has kept the electric vehicle firm afloat without using traditional advertising. At a shareholder event, he declared that he would “try out a little advertising and see how it goes” in response to a request from Tesla investors. Last year, the business seemingly produced its first-ever advertisement. Following a decline in sales, Tesla decided to slash its marketing staff. The corporation said earlier this month that fewer deliveries were anticipated.
