Tamannaah Bhatia Interrogated by ED in Guwahati Over HPZ Token Money Laundering Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Guwahati as of late put actress Tamannaah Bhatia under observation. On Thursday, she was examined as a feature of a tax evasion test associated with the HPZ Token smartphone application. Various financial backers are blamed for being misdirected by the program, which made expanded cases of colossal benefits from mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

Tamannaah’s Connection to HPZ Token

The actress, who starred in Stree 2, allegedly got paid for making a “celebrity appearance” at an event connected to the HPZ Token app, according to sources cited. Despite her cooperation with the investigation, she was not yet the subject of any incriminating evidence. Tamannaah chose to come before the ED on Thursday after first delaying her presence because of previous job obligations.

Money Laundering Allegations

The ED’s inquiry is a result of a formal complaint filed against members of the HPZ Token app, alleging that they deceived investors by promising them enormous profits through cryptocurrency mining. Authorities claim that the app used sham directors and shell organizations to launder money while facilitating illicit activities like online gambling and betting.

Entities Involved

In its March charge sheet, the ED lists 299 entities, 76 of which are under Chinese ownership. Two foreigners and ten Chinese citizens who oversaw different scam-related companies are among the accused. At the Guwahati zonal office of the ED, Tamannaah Bhatia gave her statement following the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
