BJP’s ‘Do Ladke’ Jab: Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav Accused of Sheltering Criminals in Uttar Pradesh

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi assailed the growing political clout of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying this has emboldened criminals in Uttar Pradesh. Terming the duo as “do ladke” (two boys), Trivedi charged the SP with protecting the criminal elements. He highlighted how two persons associated with the party had been recently arrested for rape and attempted rape.

“Those who talked about ‘do-hazaar’ boys during the elections are now seeing that the people associated with them are indulging in crimes. Since these two have come to power, criminals too seem to have become emboldened,” Trivedi said, without taking the names of Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, whose alliance did much damage to the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.

He further alleged that the SP is not only providing protection to criminals but also receiving support from other members of the opposition INDIA bloc in covering up criminal activities linked to their alliance partners. Trivedi grave faulted with the call for DNA testing to prove the guilt of the accused in one of the cases, made by the SP. He termed it as being in the DNA of the party to support criminals.

Apart from his criticism of the SP, Trivedi also attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her handling of the case relating to the rape and murder of a doctor in a Kolkata government-run hospital. Banerjee had said she would transfer the case to CBI if local police failed to solve the case by Sunday. Trivedi questioned whether the delay was deliberate with an eye on manipulating the case and asked that the probe be immediately handed over to the CBI.

Trivedi also wanted to know why the Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were silent over these crimes, accusing the INDIA bloc parties of shielding the “mutual criminal elements” within their alliance.

NCP MP Supriya Sule jumped to Mamata Banerjee’s defense and expressed confidence in her taking prompt action to ensure justice. “A lot of such incidents happen across the country, and we condemn all of them. We believe that Mamata Banerjee will act quickly, and the family must get justice through a fast-track court. While we couldn’t prevent this tragic incident, we must ensure that such crimes do not happen again,” Sule said.
