“Stree 2” Breaks Box Office Records: Aparshakti Khurana Speaks on the Credit Debate
The horror-comedy Stree 2, featuring Rajkummar Rao with Shraddha Kapoor, confirmed the fact that their box office collections were wild and almost looting the praise of the critics and audiences equally. It outperformed its lead predecessor, set in 2018, Stree, which has now successfully logged more than Rs. 500 crore globally. Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, is performing way better at the box office and exceeding new major releases such as Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein.
Aparshakti Khurana, who made his acting debut with the film in the role of Bittu, recently voiced his opinions in the midst of this ongoing conversation about the success of the film and the credit being accorded to various actors. Speaking to Zoom, Aparshakti clarified on the buzz of Shraddha Kapoor being given most of the credit for the success of the film.
He candidly remarked, “Main ispe kuch bolunga, baat khulegi toh door tak jaayegi, main kuch bolna nahin chahunga, audience jo kahe wo sahi hai.” He also hinted at a “PR game” happening behind the scenes, suggesting that there’s an effort to “up or down” someone’s contribution to the film.
For the records, the numbers do all the talking, while Stree 2 has managed to rake in Rs 426 cr. gross in India; the supernatural dramedy had garnered approximately Rs 78.5 cr. gross gross overseas aggregating to its credit Rs 505 cr. The other record created by Stree 2 was that this film was the highest single-grosser ever recorded on its second Saturday, displaying massive ardent fans. Sent to the theaters on August 15, Stree 2 did face a bit of competition from other movie releases afterward but it literally made its status clear drawing winners’ ribbons and roughing them to emerge as a blockbuster.

Critically, the reviews of Stree 2 are clean; News18 Showsha gives it a solid 3.5/5 rating where, more than anything else, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s performances were praised by several people. The fans wanted to see a little more screen presence for Shraddha. Her action instances provide the impetus, along with versatile acting from Rajkummar, which makes the film work. In this sequence, the debate over the success and share of the credit from the film has been portrayed vividly between the protagonists, with Stree 2 already raging at the box office. What is not disputed, though, is the film’s great run at the box office, much-liked edition in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, also comprising Bhediya and Munjya.
