Amar Kaushik’s directorial Stree 2 is unstoppable while crossing ₹ 500 crore nett at the box office in India. The film is a sequel to the 2018 hit film Stree with the whole lead star cast united, Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana.

Box Office Performance for Week 3

Reports film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Stree 2 is holding up well on its third Monday. Adarsh tweeted the updated numbers, pointing out the film’s consistency:

Stree 2 is rock-steady at the box office, with the film holding very strong on a working day [third Monday]. Mass circuits – more so non-national chains and singles screens at tier-2 and tier-3 centers – are propelling its business.

The film is expected to enjoy a smooth run right till Dussehra. [Week 3] Friday ₹9.25 crore, Saturday ₹17.4 crore, Sunday ₹22.1 crore, Monday ₹7.05 crore. Total: ₹509.4 crore India business.

Plot and Success of Stree 2

While the original Stree had a female ghost who was wronged in her mortal life, the upcoming Stree 2 introduces the audience to Sarkata, their headless villain terrorizing women with independent voices.

In one pivotal scene, Sarkata sends flying the statue of Stree standing guard over Chanderi-thus flexing his muscle.

Amar Kaushik on the Success of Film

Director Amar Kaushik had recently in an interview that he was “over the moon” with the response of the film. “We partied and enjoyed too much.

We knew the quality of the film was good, but these huge numbers weren’t expected.I’m sleep deprived; once I sleep properly, I will think about my next”. He said the hard work involved in Stree 2 was immense: “We worked on the script of Stree 2 by almost two and a half years.
