Shweta Tiwari Confirms Karan Johar Project: ‘I Play a Don-Like Character’ | Exclusive
In Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force, Shweta Tiwari was spotted earlier this year. She will next appear in Singham Again as an intelligence officer working under Ajay Devgn’s character, Sangram Bhalerao. That’s not it, though. The Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor and Karan Johar are now working together. Remarkably, Karan has collaborated with well-known TV personalities in the past, such as Arjun Bijlani, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Shraddha Arya, Sriti Jha, and Arjit Taneja in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, as well as Lakshya in Kill and Kshitee Jog.
“I’m doing Dharma Productions’ upcoming web series,” Shweta reveals in an exclusive interview Showsha about her next project with the director’s production company. I play a don-like role in it, where I wear a saree and smoke cigarettes (laughs). I wanted to take on the task because I knew it would be quite tough.
She informs us that she’s prepared for smaller roles in this new phase of her career, despite her continued silence over other specifics. “Do what you enjoy is what I’ve always told myself. I used to be a main character on television, but now that I’m branching out, I want to play other roles. I’m aware that taking on smaller roles is necessary if I want to collaborate with a certain actor or director. Every five years, I want to launch myself in a new direction,” she says.
For the uninitiated, she attempted her hand at filmmaking even throughout her tenure in television. She encountered bigotry “many times in multiple places,” so it wasn’t a pleasant sailing trip. Shweta recounts an incident in which she states, “I don’t want to name this very famous director.” He called me once for a part in his movie. He informed me that he genuinely wanted me to play the part and that I was a wonderful fit for it. ‘But the thing is, you’re a TV actor,’ he continued. Kaise bechunga main kya? What is the name of the primary producers who are involved with this TV actress?
“I said to him, ‘Okay, fine.’ And left. In my mind, I kept thinking ki, abhi aap ko yaad aaya ki main TV karti hoon, phone karte waqt yaad nahi tha?” the woman continues. “If that’s the case, why did you call me in the first place? He only called me to narrate the story and to say it to me that I’m just a TV actor! I don’t know why he even asked me to meet him.”

Shweta will, however, make an exception under one condition, but she has been declining projects lately because they pay less. “I’m really happy with my life right now. In my personal and professional life, I’m completely content with everything. Oh, woh hi karti hoon, mann ko bhaata hai. If the project is really good, I just go ahead and accomplish it without considering the money. Even now, there remains a greed for doing excellent job. I occasionally even offer to work for free when I notice that the producers don’t have the money to pay me,” she says.
