Shubman Gill Named ‘State Icon’ for Lok Sabha Polls by Punjab Chief Electoral Officer

Indian cricket player Shubman Gill has been named a “state icon” for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections by the office of the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer. Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C. stated in a statement on Monday that Gill will participate in a number of voter awareness campaigns in an effort to get a seventy percent voting rate. “Is Vaar 70 Paar” is the goal set by the poll panel.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha races, Punjab recorded a citizen turnout of 65.96 for the 13 seats.
As per the CEO, Gill, an occupant of Punjab and a popular figure among avid supporters, especially youngsters, has been assigned as a “state symbol” for the surveys.

Sibin C reported that all Punjabi deputy commissioners were requested to identify the regions where the vote percentage was low in the previous elections during a meeting on Friday.
He said that Shubman Gill’s awareness initiatives and appeals in these areas would inspire voters and boost turnout.

Tarsem Jassar, a well-known Punjabi singer, had recently been picked as a “state icon” and he expressed he would complete comparative endeavors. The CEO asked citizens, everything being equal, to project their polling forms on a large scale and communicated good faith that Shubman Gill and Tarsem Jassar would urge first-time electors to practice their entitlement to cast a ballot.

April and May are most likely the polling months for the Lok Sabha.
