Shreyas Iyer to Play for Mumbai in Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament
Shreyas Iyer is likely to turn up for Mumbai in the prestigious Buchi Babu Invitational tournament hosted by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The four venues in the State will host the tournament starting this Thursday with Iyer expected to find himself playing in company with India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, in Mumbai’s second-round match, against Jammu & Kashmir. The four-day game will be held from August 27 to 30 at Coimbatore.
The news was confirmed by MCA joint secretary Deepak Patil, who told mid-day, “Shreyas Iyer will play for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational tournament. He will be in action against Jammu & Kashmir from August 27 at Coimbatore.”

It’s a big opportunity coming Iyer way, who has returned to the Indian side with the ODI series in Sri Lanka. The Buchi Babu Invitational has 12 teams: Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Hyderabad, Bengal, Mumbai, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, TNCA XI and TNCA President’s XI. Matches will be held in Tirunelveli, Coimbatore, Salem and Nath.
