Shreyanka Patil’s Touching Revelation: Virat Kohli’s Million-Dollar Remark After Memorable WPL Outing

The off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, 21, was the highlight of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team’s victory in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), winning the Purple Cap in the process. She enjoyed her team’s victory last Sunday, but on Tuesday night, she had an unusual meeting with Virat Kohli, her childhood hero. Nothing could have prepared Shreyanka for the moment when Kohli himself complimented her efforts, leaving her speechless and humbled despite her accomplishments on the field. She expressed her shock and thanks in a touching social media post, recalling how she had admired Kohli as a child and never dreamed he would know her by name. “Started watching cricket because of him. Growing up, I aspired to be like him. And I experienced the time of my life last night.” Hello Shreyanka, well bowled,” said Virat. On her official X, formerly Twitter, profile, Shreyanka commented, “He actually knows my name.”

She was selected by RCB during the first-ever WPL auctions, which set off her route to this incredible meeting with Kohli. Her six wickets in seven matches demonstrated her importance and won her praise from both her Indian selectors and her franchise. Her reputation as a talented cricketer was further cemented by her outstanding performances in the CPL for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, which culminated in her debut against England in December of last year for her country. Shreyanka has had an incredible journey since then, overcoming difficulties and injuries to become an important member of the Indian women’s cricket team. Shreyanka has so far represented India in two ODIs and six T20Is throughout her brief but significant international career. She has taken four and eight wickets in each match.

The title-winning season

In the 2024 season, Shreyanka participated in all eight of the RCB’s games, taking 13 wickets to take the overall lead in wicket-taking. With an economy rate of only 7.30 and an average of 12.07, the OFFI proved to be a valuable asset for the team. Shreyanka’s game-winning performance in the final saw the RCB dismiss the Delhi Capitals for a mere 113 runs with remarkable figures of 4/12 in 3.3 overs.
