Shocking Allegations: Indian Army Officer’s Fiancée Claims Sexual Abuse by Odisha Police—5 Disturbing Details
On Friday, Naveen Patnaik, the president of Biju Janata Dal and a former chief minister of Odisha, requested a judicial investigation and a court-monitored SIT probe into the claims of sexual harassment made against the fiancée of an Indian Army officer who was being held in police custody.
The opposition leader in the Odisha assembly, Naveen Patnaik, denounced the act and called it “very shocking.”
Everyone is aware of the recent events involving an Army Major and his fiancée at a Bhubaneswar police station. The news of the violence against them both and the suspected sexual assault of the Major’s fiancée is extremely disturbing. Naveen Patnaik stated, “We demand a full judicial inquiry into this matter, and action must be taken very quickly.”
The leader of the BJD stated that his party disapproved of the “heinous” crime and that the BJP government should punish all individuals responsible to the fullest extent feasible.
“It is unbelievable and disgusting how an Army Major and a woman were treated at the Bharatpur Police Station. The nation’s conscience has been rattled by the way police are said to have handled them. A lady in Odisha and a serving Army officer have experienced this, Naveen Patnaik said on X.
Five Odisha Police personnel were suspended.
In relation to the reported assault of an Army officer and the suspected “molestation” of his fiancée at the Bharatpur Police Station in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha Police dismissed five staff on Wednesday.
The Director General of Police (DGP), YB Khurania, issued an order suspending the five police officers on the grounds of gross misconduct.
Protest held
On Friday, a group of female activists staged a dharna in front of Police Bhavan, calling for the arrest of the police officers suspected of sexually harassing the fiancée of an Army officer.
“The #MoSarkar system was implemented during our government, wherein the Chief Minister, Ministers, and Senior Officers would contact individuals to enquire about their experiences visiting government facilities, such as police stations and hospitals, and to enquire about whether they were handled with respect and in a professional manner.
“This BJP government has immediately stopped the pro-people initiative of Mo Sarkar, and the consequences are visible,” said Patnaik.
He claimed that the episode demonstrates the “incompetence” of the state’s BJP leadership.
In reference to the alleged “assault” on an Odia officer by the son of Governor Raghubar Das, Patnaik stated, “On the day when the BJP government declined to act against the governor’s son on a grave assault case, others became more confident.”
“I continue to call on this government to take action against the governor’s son. He stated, “I demand a judicial inquiry into this serious incident against an army major and the lady, as well as a court-monitored SIT probe.”
Army officer’s fiancée’s shocking account: 5 points
- After making our way out of there, we went to the Bharatpur Police Station to register a complaint. A female police officer was the only person seated at the reception. We asked her to file the complaint since we were concerned that the multiple young people inside the car might follow us at any time and that we would benefit from police presence. She misbehaved with me, yet, rather than taking note of my complaint, she claimed.
- “They locked him up; I have no idea what happened.” Two female cops began physically attacking me when I voiced my objection that they could not detain an Army officer because it was against the law, she claimed.
- She claimed the female constable became enraged and mistreated her when she revealed she was a lawyer.
- Meanwhile, a patrolling police car with multiple officers—among them a female officer—arrived at the police station. Subsequently, I was thrashed and had my hair pulled by two female cops. They dragged me down the police station hallway despite my pleas for them to stop. I bit her hand while one of them was stifling me. They took off my jacket, put it over both of my hands, tied a scarf around both of my legs, and pushed me into a room, the woman claimed.
- “After taking off my bra, a male police officer arrived and started kicking my chest repeatedly. The police station inspector then arrived, undid his pants, showed me his genitalia, and made me feel as though I should pursue a sexual relationship with him. The victim added, “He also molested me.”
