Senior Police Inspector Shubhada Shitole Transferred to Mumbai Amid Controversy Over Handling of Sexual Assault Case

Shubhada Shitole, senior police inspector of Badlapur East Police Station, has been transferred to Mumbai following controversy over the handling of a sensitive case of sexual assault of two minor girls. The case, relating to the alleged assault of two kindergarten girls by a male school attendant locally in Badlapur, drew wide public outcry over the perceived delay in police action.

The shocking incident occurred on August 12 and 13 whereby the male attendant allegdly assaulted the young girls in the school’s washroom. The case was reported officially on August 16, after which the accused was promptly arrested the following day. However allegations have emerged that Shitole, who visited the crime scene and met with the victims, delayed necessary action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
