Electoral Bonds Case Live Updates: Harish Salve Confirms ‘SBI will Provide Bond Numbers’

Electoral Bonds Case Live Updates: Harish Salve Confirms ‘SBI Will Provide Bond Numbers

The State Bank of India (SBI), having revealed the “unique serial numbers” of election bonds, is the subject of a case that the Supreme Court will consider on Monday. A distinct serial number is assigned to every bond under the now-canceled 2018 Electoral Bond program, which may help in tracking the bonds’ issue, redemption, and purchaser tracking.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) received information from the State Bank of India (SBI) about bond beneficiaries and donors on Friday. The Supreme Court expressed disapproval of SBI’s failure to disclose the unique serial numbers linked to each electoral bond (EB) for public disclosure.

The Election Commission earlier made public the most recent information on electoral bonds, which had previously been sent in sealed envelopes to the Supreme Court. This action was taken in response to the court’s directive that the data be made accessible to the public.
