Nepal Plane Crash: Saurya Airlines Aircraft with 19 Onboard Crashes During Takeoff in Kathmandu
At the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Wednesday, a plane operated by Saurya Airlines crashed after takeoff, according to The Kathmandu Post. According to TIA spokeswoman Premnath Thakur, 19 people—including aircrew—were on board the Pokhara-bound aircraft when it crashed at around 11 a.m., the article stated.

At the scene of the accident, firemen and police are performing rescue efforts. There is typically one aviation mishap in Nepal per year. At least 12 deadly plane crashes, including the most recent one, have occurred at the Himalayan resort since 2010.
A tragic incident occurred in January 2023 when a Yeti Airlines aircraft crashed close to Pokhara, the country’s capital. The disaster claimed the lives of all 72 passengers and staff members on board. As it approached Pokhara, the aircraft broke apart and exploded into flames as it fell into a rocky valley.

The 22 people on board a Tara Air aircraft died in the incident that occurred in the Mustang district on May 29, 2022. A terrible incident involving a US-Bangla Airlines airplane happened in 2018 close to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport. Twenty passengers suffered significant injuries when the jet crashed, leaving 51 people dead.
