Sanjay Roy’s Lie Detector Test Raises Doubts in Kolkata Doctor’s Rape and Murder Case
After his lie-detector test identified several inconsistencies in what he claimed, Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the horrifying rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has raised much controversy and suspicion.
The test revealed that Sanjay Roy had claimed during the test that his victim was already dead when he reached the seminar hall where the fatal incident was committed. The accused had earlier confessed to the crime, after which he has reversed the confession and has stated his innocence, framing a diabolic attempt against him. The test results indicated as many as four deceptive statements and sources informed that the test had rattled Roy, who was nervous throughout.
The CBI and Kolkata Police, on the other hand, have been confronting Roy with the bulk of evidence connecting him to the crime, yet he has remained evasive by providing various alibis and explanations that have only helped to deepen the mystery. Similarly, the fact that he was definitively present at the crime scene – caught on CCTV at 4:03 the night of August 9 and his Bluetooth being found there – oblige him to explain away all these facts.
The young doctor had been brutally reported with 25 injuries on her body, including injuries that showed signs of sexual violence. Her death had shocked the medical community and the city at large, leading to widespread demands for justice.

All of this has further added to the fears in the mind of the people about the mental status and violent potential of Sanjay Roy, whom further the psych profile reflected by an “animal-like instinct” and a massive addiction to pornography. As the probe progresses, two commissioners are working in an effort to find the compendium of facts on this heinous crime, with the lie-detector result adding some new wrinkle.
