Rysa Panday’s Impressive CV Sparks Nepotism Debate; Fans Say ‘At Least She’s Doing Something’
After her LinkedIn resume went viral, Rysa Panday—the younger daughter of Bollywood stars Chunky Panday and Bhavana Pandey—became well-known and sparked an online discussion about nepotism in business. Rysa, who briefly appeared in season 2 of her mother’s reality program, The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, in 2022, is currently enrolled in the esteemed NYU Tisch School of Arts in the United States to pursue a career in filmmaking. Her resume, however, which listed stints at prestigious Bollywood film companies, was what attracted attention.
An X user posted the widely circulated screenshot, which showed Rysa’s employment history at three well-known production companies: Red Chillies Entertainment, owned by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, for four months; Excel Entertainment, owned by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, for one month; and Tiger Baby, owned by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, for one month. The client suggested that Rysa’s prospects were because of her family ties in a scorching comment about “good old nepotism” that was remembered for the post’s title.
Ananya Panday, Rysa’s older seasoned sister, has also been faulted for nepotism right after making her Bollywood debut in 2019 with Dharma Manifestations’ Student of the Year 2, facilitated by Karan Johar. In 2023, Ananya worked together on the film Kho Gaye Murmur Kahan with both Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby.
Many X users defended Rysa in the face of the widespread reaction, disputing the idea that she shouldn’t take use of the benefits her family’s connections provide. Among the comments were statements like “Better than doing nothing at all” and “Even if I were the product of nepotism, I would still take all the chances given to me.” Others countered that if given comparable opportunity, individuals would probably act similarly; one user joked, “I’d be at Harvard.”

Ananya discussed her distaste for the phrase “star kid” being used as an insult in a recent podcast with Raj Shamani. She also discussed the difficulties of growing up in the spotlight. Ananya, who will co-star with R Madhavan and Akshay Kumar in a future movie, is still attempting to establish her own identity in the business while juggling the demands of belonging to the Bollywood family.
