Russia Launches Massive Missile and Drone Attack on Ukraine, Kyiv Hit by Explosions; 3 Confirmed Dead

This Monday, the Ukrainian military reported one of the largest Russian missile and drone attacks in recent weeks. Reuters states that several explosions have occurred, seven of which have been reported in Kyiv, after warning sirens sounded across the country regarding the air threats from Russia.

The attack has killed at least three people, with casualties estimated in Lutsk, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian air force officials confirmed the deployment of 11 TU-95 strategic bombers by Russia and that it unleashed a series of missiles.

The attack, which started around midnight and is ongoing, included coordinated drone strikes from Russia aimed and falling throughout eastern, northern, and southern Ukraine, in addition to a number of cruise and ballistic missiles, the Associated Press reported.

Local authorities confirmed an apartment block there was damaged and one person had died. Blasts have also hummed through southern cities Odesa and Zaporizhzhia in addition to near northern city Kharkiv in a series. About, governors in several regions called on people to take shelter.

Governor of Lviv Maksym Kozytskyi said that facilities of energy in western Ukraine are destroyed, which led to partial electricity power cut in the Lviv city and other regions.

On Sunday, similar attacks had taken place in the war-hit country’s north, east, and south—leaving four people killed and 37 injured. They said front-line areas targeted included Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk.

Both Russia and Ukraine deny that they target civilians in the ongoing conflict, sparked when Russia pursued a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
