Rohit Shetty Criticizes New Actors as ‘Insecure,’ Claims 90% of Social Media Followers Are Paid
Fresh off the success of Singham Again, Rohit Shetty recently talked about how Bollywood is changing. During an interview with casting director Mukesh Chhabra for Mashable India, the skilled director—who has worked with 90s celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Sanjay Dutt—gave his opinions about contemporary actors.
Social Media vs Real-World Stardom
Shetty said that 90% of the performers’ social media followers and articles are paid, criticizing their “insecurity” in the process. In order to demonstrate their abilities on the big screen, he encouraged the upcoming generation of actors to leave the digital bubble. “These figures will be meaningless in two years. You must use your work to demonstrate your value,” he said.
Salman Khan’s Inspirational Career Move
Salman Khan’s choice to play a supporting part in the 1996 blockbuster Jeet with Sunny Deol and Karisma Kapoor was emphasized by Rohit Shetty. Salman decided to play a smaller role in order to advance during a difficult period in his career. “Salman agreed to do Jeet when his films weren’t going well. He seized the chance to reestablish his career, not letting his ego get in the way. “Today’s stars lack this humility,” Shetty said. Salman’s other flicks, including Judwaa, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, solidified his status as a Bollywood superstar after Jeet became a box office success.
