Rohit Sharma Mimics Harshit Rana’s Flying-Kiss Send-Off to Mayank Agarwal; SRH Deletes Photo After Posting
The Ranji Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their second game of the 2024 Indian Premier League on Wednesday, saw some pre-match taunting on Tuesday. The moment former MI captain Rohit Sharma imitated bowler Harshit Rana of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ flying-kiss send-off in front of Mayank Agarwal was priceless. Mayank’s explosive start was cut short last week when Rana removed him in the last over of the powerplay in SRH’s debut match against KKR at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. And when Mayank glanced back in exaltation, the KKR pacer sent him out with a flying kiss.
Mayank couldn’t stop giggling as Rohit replicated the event during MI and SRH’s session on Tuesday before the eighth IPL 2024 match in Hyderabad. With the title, “Flying kisses and friendly rivalries,” Sunrisers did share images from the event, but they removed them shortly after. On the other hand, the images quickly became viral. However, veteran India captain Sunil Gavaskar took offense at Harshit’s jubilation and attacked the young player on TV. “That was a bad thing for him to do,” he stated. When the batsman was hitting him for sixes, did anything to him? Without these pranks, cricket can be played. The television era is upon us. That makes sense to me. Join in the celebration with your teammates, but spare the enemy from such excesses.”

It did not sit well with the BCCI either, as Rana was fined heavily for twice breaking the IPL Code of Conduct. Rana committed two Level 1 infractions, as stated in the IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.5. An IPL announcer claims that he was penalized 10% and 50% of his match earnings for the two corresponding offenses. “After admitting to the two violations, Rana accepted the Match Referee’s penalty. The Match Referee’s ruling is definitive and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.”
