RJ Balaji on Nayanthara-Dhanush Netflix Feud: ‘Audience Seems Entertained’
On Sunday in Chennai, actor and filmmaker RJ Balaji, who starred in Muukuthi Amman and Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, went to a fan event organized by Galatta. The actor-director discussed his next projects at the event and was questioned about the current dispute between Dhanush and Nayanthara over the Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale.
‘The Audience Seems Entertained’
Balaji, who has business relationships with both Dhanush and Nayanthara, played it cool. Like you, I also learned about the Internet. Their fight appears to be entertaining the audience. What can I say, though? It received no response from Dhanush Sir. He said, “Who am I to comment on this?”
He went on to say that he would rather concentrate on his profession and has faith that the performers will work out their issues. Both of them are mature performers who could handle the situation via social media or the legal system. Either they could talk it out or they couldn’t. They will answer the phone. “I’m concentrating on my film with Suriya, sir,” Balaji stated.
Balaji teased his role in Sidharth Vishwanath’s Sorgavaasal and expressed his delight about directing Suriya in his next movie as the evening came to a close.
What Happened Between Nayanthara and Dhanush?
In an open letter posted on Instagram on Saturday, Nayanthara accused Dhanush of blocking her from utilizing footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary, sparking the uproar. Since she fell in love with her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, while the film was being made, she noted that the film was important to her personal life.
She wrote a letter criticizing Dhanush for sending her a lawsuit requesting ₹10 crore for a three-second trailer clip that featured behind-the-scenes video.
In response, Dhanush’s team claimed that, as the film’s producer, he owned the material. They insisted that the clip be taken down in a day. Vignesh Shivan, meanwhile, made fun of Dhanush’s position by posting the video to Instagram, calling it the “10-crore clip,” and urging people to watch it for free.
Upcoming Projects
As of November 18, Netflix is now offering Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale for streaming. Nayanthara is also scheduled to feature in Dear Students, Rakkayie, Test, and Mannangatti Since 1960. On the other hand, Dhanush is starring and directing alongside Sekhar Kammula in the films Kubera and Idli Kadai.
