WPL 2024: After the RCBs win the WPL Eliminator, Delhi Metro transforms into an Ellyse Perry and RCB fan zone; the video goes viral

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) progressed to the 2024 Women’s Chief Association (WPL) last, outplaying protecting champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by five runs in the semi-final held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Walk 15.

The Smriti Mandhana-led side will take on the Delhi Capitals in the last standoff, which is planned to be held at the same stadium on Sunday, Walk 17. Following the win, RCB fans on their way back from the stadium were spotted blissfully chanting the title of the group and their star allrounder, Ellyse Perry, in the Delhi metro.

Strikingly, it was Perry’s remarkable all-round execution that made a difference for the Bangalore-based establishment to secure a spot in the final. In the semi-final clash against the Mumbai Indians, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the hurl and was picked to bat to begin with. Their choice showed up to waver as they endured a batting collapse early on.

In any case, Ellyse Perry, who batted at No. 3, secured RCB’s innings with a dirty 66 runs from 50 balls some time ago after being rejected by Saika Ishaque. The 33-year-old’s score was studded with eight boundaries and one most extreme. In spite of the Aussie star’s brave exertion, RCB managed to post a below-par add-up  of 135 runs in their designated 20 overs.

In the interim, MI’s bowling assault, initiated by Hayley Mathews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Ishaque, picked up two wickets apiece. Mumbai, on the other hand, also made a terrible start amid the chase, losing three wickets for 68 inside the first 11 overs. In spite of the early misfortunes, captain Harmanpreet Kaur drove her side from the front and scored 33 off 30 conveyances, counting four boundaries. Shreyanka Patil was the chosen bowler for RCB, who has wrapped up with fabulous figures of 2/16. Separated from Patil, Perry, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham, and Asha Shobhana all made one scalp each, together limiting MI from winning their next successive title.
