Rajasthan Sports Council Seals Sawai Man Singh Stadium and RCA Office Ahead Of IPL 2024

Rajasthan Sports Council Seals Sawai Man Singh Stadium and RCA Office Ahead Of IPL 2024

Sohan Ram Choudhary, the secretary of the Rajasthan Sports Council, had given the RCA notice to turn over the property to the state council, but nothing happened. One month prior to its planned Indian Premier League fixtures, the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in this location was sealed by the Rajasthan Sports Council. The state cricket body, according to the council, has not paid its dues and other commitments.

Along with the stadium, the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s (RCA) office and academy were also sealed. Sohan Ram Choudhary, the secretary of the Rajasthan Sports Council, had given the RCA notice to turn over the property to the state council on Friday, but it never happened.

As a result of RCA’s purported inability to comply with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and non-payment of dues, the state sports council sealed the properties after the handover did not occur.

“We had contacted RCA multiple times, but they had not responded. They simply responded to extend the Memorandum of Understanding from eight years to ten. Choudhary informed the media, “They had obligations, but they failed to fulfill them.

“We’ve convened with RCA to identify a resolution. They claimed not to have got the full ₹200 crores, despite having received around that amount. We had to take this action because, while they had a lot of money during the Rajasthan Premier League, they disregarded the Memorandum of Understanding and failed to deposit the funds, he continued.

Controversy Surrounding Sawai Man Singh Stadium Ahead of IPL 2024

Choudhary did, however, guarantee that the IPL matches and all other scheduled games will take place at this location. This is our thesis, which we have now retracted. The players will have access to all facilities, and the IPL matches as well as other national and international matches will take place,” he declared.

Vaibhav Gehlot, the president of the RCA, said that his body was not given enough time to react and that the action smacked of “political malice.” “There are old outstanding dues of ₹8 crore, but the sudden sealing of that old case—and that too before the IPL—shows political malice.” Gehlot stated, “This shouldn’t have happened.”

“We were not granted full time; the allotted time was less than two days. Politics shouldn’t be allowed in sports, but it is,” he continued. Gehlot stated that the RCA will discuss its legal options before deciding what action to take in this case.
