Rahul Gandhi Urges Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Expunge Derogatory Remarks Against Him
On Wednesday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met with Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla to address the removal of disparaging remarks directed at him. Gandhi expressed his worry, saying that such statements must be taken down to guarantee the House’s smooth operation. Speaker Om Birla promised to investigate the situation. Gandhi underlined the need to uphold parliamentary etiquette and stressed that productive discussions should continue to be the major emphasis.
Gandhi stated his intention to pursue a debate on December 13th, particularly on important topics like the Adani scandal, despite the personal assaults. “We want the House to function and have discussions in the House,” he said. We want to debate the Adani problem regardless of what they say about me. They do not want to talk about Adani. Ultimately, we won’t abandon this. They will continue to accuse us, but the House needs to run.
BJP Lok Sabha MPs Nishikant Dubey and Sambit Patra had attacked the Congress earlier on December 5th, claiming Rahul Gandhi and George Soros were connected. The situation intensified when Dubey brought up Soros and the international investigative journalism network OCCRP (Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project) in the House. “Congress ka haath, Soros ke saath,” he asked. OCCRP, which receives all of its funding from George Soros and the US government, has ties to Congress. Did Rahul Gandhi accept funds for the Bharat Jodo Yatra from George Soros? Congress MPs stormed the House Well to protest this statement, causing a high-stakes scene that ended with adjournment.

Rahul Gandhi’s integrity was later defended by Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi Vadra outside the Parliament against the accusations made by the BJP. “Those who can label Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru traitors have no qualms about labeling Rahul Gandhi a traitor,” she stated. Nothing about this is new. For my brother, nothing is more important than our nation, and I am proud of him.
