Trainee IAS Officer Puja Khedkar Mother Detained Over Viral Gun Threat Video
The mother of notorious probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar was taken into custody, according to police, after she was spotted brandishing a gun in an internet video. The detention of Manorama Khedkar from Mahad, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, has been confirmed by Pankaj Deshmukh, SP, Pune Rural Police. In relation to a case filed against her and six other people for allegedly threatening farmers with guns, Manorama is being transported to Pune. “She was taken into custody from Mahad. She’s headed over here. We’re going to question her and file more lawsuits. She was discovered in a Mahad hotel, Deshmukh said.
In a Pune village, Manorama Khedkar is seen in the alleged video getting into a violent argument with neighbors. In the two minutes of video, Khedkar and her security detail are shown shoving a pistol in a man’s face, swearing at him, and then trying to hide it. According to a previous official, the incident in the film concerned a piece of land in Dhadwali village in Pune’s Mulshi tehsil that Puja’s father, retired Maharashtra government officer Dilip Khedkar, had purchased. The Khedkars, according to the locals, had invaded the neighboring farmers’ land.
The Pune Rural Police had declared last week that they would be looking into the event to confirm all the details, including if Manorama Khedkar was legally authorized to possess the firearm in question. The Khedkar family has been subjected to considerable media scrutiny following the scandal caused by Puja Khedkar, an IAS officer from the 2023 batch, and her purported demands for an official car and separate office, as well as the unauthorized usage of a beacon on her private vehicle while she was posted in Pune.

She is currently facing accusations that in her Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) application, she misrepresented her eligibility as an OBC non-creamy layer applicant. She also insisted that she was intellectually and visually impaired, but she wouldn’t take tests to support her assertions. On Tuesday, though, the government halted Khedkar’s district training program after calling her back to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, for “necessary action”. Nitin Gadre, the additional chief secretary for Maharashtra, stated in a letter that the school had chosen to pause her district training program and had promptly called her back.
