Priyanka Chopra’s Surprising Revelation: Agents Push for Pay Parity, Uncommon in Bollywood
After making the successful transition from Bollywood to Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra went on to play major roles in Citadel last year and Quantico. The actor does, however, claim that she was unaware that she had the initial “power” to request wage parity. The actor said that she was “surprised” when her agents called about pay parity in an interview with India Today that was conducted during the WOMB promotional tour.
What Priyanka said
“When my agents told me that we were going to ask for pay parity, even I was surprised,” Priyanka continued during the interview, recalling the conversation. I thought, “What? More details
Priyanka has discussed the subject of salary parity previously. Pay parity has never existed for me in Bollywood. I would receive around ten percent of my male co-star’s pay. The compensation difference is huge—substantially enormous. And it is still a problem for a lot of women. “If I collaborated with a male co-actor in Bollywood right now, I’m sure I would too,” she stated in a 2022 BBC “100 Women” interview. The woman said that the first time a woman received salary parity with her male co-star was in Citadel, when she co-starred with Richard Madden. Heads of State are Priyanka’s current target audience. Under the direction of Ilya Naishuller, it also stars Jack Quaid, John Cena, and Idris Elba in significant parts. Additionally, she will be seen in Frank E. Flowers’ film The Bluff.
