Priyanka surprised her followers on Instagram on Monday by sharing a stirring teaser. It provides a brief overview of the story of a parent battling for his daughter’s justice. Priyanka tweeted on Sunday that she was thrilled to be working as an executive producer on To Kill a Tiger with Mindy Kaling, Dev Patel, and other talented people. “I’m so proud to join the incredible team of the Academy Award-nominated documentary @tokillatigerdoc,” the actress announced on her Instagram page. “We are happy to announce that Netflix has acquired the global distribution rights to this powerful feature directed by @nishappics.” Upon initially viewing this film in 2022, I was enthralled with its moving story, which portrayed a father’s courageous battle within the legal system to ensure his daughter received justice. This effort is proof of the unwavering resolve and limitless love of a committed father for his beloved daughter.

About the Documentary

Including Best Documentary at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Amplify Voices Award at TIFF, and Best Feature Documentary at the Canadian Screen Awards, Nisha Pahuja’s film To Kill a Tiger has garnered two dozen awards worldwide. Pahuja received recognition from the Directors Guild of Canada with the 2023 Excellence in Documentary Award. It was nominated and made the Oscar documentary shortlist, despite not being distributed in the United States.

The film, which centers on Ranjit, a poor farmer whose 13-year-old daughter Kiran was the victim of a vicious sexual assault, took Nish eight years to complete, according to Deadline. Ranjit and his spouse, Jiganti, resisted pressure from their village to dismiss charges against the three young men suspected of the attack. The state of Jharkhand in eastern India is the setting for the movie. “Serves as a testament to the boundless love and unyielding determination of a devoted father for his cherished daughter,” the announcement says of To Kill a Tiger.
