PM Narendra Modi to Launch Key Development Projects in Delhi Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has designated Friday as a critical day for the growth of Delhi ahead of his arrival. PM Modi stressed in a tweet on X (previously Twitter) that the opening of several projects will improve Delhi residents’ quality of life. “Today is a significant day for the growth of Delhi. “I will be laying the groundwork and inauguration of a variety of development projects that will improve the ‘Ease of Living’ for Delhi residents at a program in Ashok Vihar,” Modi said.

Among the major projects the Prime Minister will unveil are 1,675 brand-new apartments for the people living in Ashok Vihar’s Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters, a modern World Trade Centre (WTC) in Nauroji Nagar, General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters in Sarojini Nagar, and an Integrated Office Complex for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in Dwarka. PM Modi will also lay the groundwork for three major projects totaling ₹600 crore at Delhi University. The Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh, the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar, and the Western Campus in Dwarka are a few of them that provide students contemporary amenities.

A political dispute between the BJP and Congress has been triggered by the naming of Veer Savarkar College after the prominent right-wing politician. The BJP has come under fire from the Congress for “glorifying” a historical person who petitioned the British for clemency during the colonial era. The BJP has responded by accusing the Congress of minimizing the heritage of national heroes and concentrating only on undermining them.

Further political friction over the matter is indicated by the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU), which is now run by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), a student wing connected to the Congress. The controversy over the Veer Savarkar College’s name is still a contentious subject as these projects are implemented, underscoring the continued ideological gap between the opposition and the ruling party.
