PM Modi Takes Holy Dip at Maha Kumbh, Calls Sangam Snan ‘Spiritually Enriching’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had a deep spiritual connection when, in Prayagraj on Wednesday, he took a sacred bath at the Triveni Sangam. In the Hindu tradition, the Sangam is the meeting place of the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati. PM Modi thanked God for allowing him to participate in the Maha Kumbh.
“It is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have participated, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion,” he said in a touching message on X (previously Twitter). May Maa Ganga provide everyone harmony, serenity, knowledge, and good health. In addition to his statement, he shared photos from his trip that demonstrated his involvement in the holy rites.
PM Modi’s Holy Dip and Rituals at Triveni Sangam
With a rudraksha mala in hand and wearing track trousers and a saffron blazer, PM Modi carried out the customs with the highest respect. He worshipped the sacred rivers and prayed to the Sun God as Vedic chants and hymns accompanied him. He offered grains, flowers, fruits, and a scarlet cloth at the confluence as part of his ceremonies.
Before entering the water, PM Modi performed a thorough devotional session. In addition to making sacrifices to the rivers and performing Tarpan (ancestral offerings), he touched the water with devotion. Local priests greeted him by placing a ritual tilak on his forehead while he was wearing a Himachali hat, a saffron stole, and a black kurta. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, went with him on the trip.
Symbolic Message of Unity and Spirituality
A more profound symbolic message was sent by PM Modi’s visit. He highlighted the meaning of “One India, Supreme India” and the age-old doctrine of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family) by taking a holy plunge on the auspicious holidays of Gupt Navratri and Bhishmashtami. His involvement emphasized India’s spiritual legacy and togetherness.
Why February 5 Was Chosen for the Holy Dip
Since February 5th is Magh Ashtami, a day devoted to penance, devotion, and charitable deeds, it has particular meaning in the Hindu calendar. Because of its special spiritual significance and compatibility with the Maha Kumbh’s revered chronology, this date was selected.
PM Modi’s Continued Connection with Prayagraj
PM Modi isn’t the primary man to partake in the Kumbh Mela. He has extended regard to all segments of society by cleaning the feet of disinfection laborers and washing up during the 2019 Kumbh.
On December 13, one month before the Maha Kumbh, PM Modi traveled to Prayagraj to officially launch 167 projects totaling Rs 5,500 crore. Road extensions, permanent ghats, riverfronts, sewage and drinking water facilities, railway station improvements, and a steady supply of electricity were all part of these initiatives. To improve the Maha Kumbh experience and further Prayagraj’s growth, he also established spiritual lanes like as the Akshayavat Corridor, Saraswati Koop Corridor, and Bharadwaj Rishi Ashram Corridor.
High Alert in Prayagraj During PM’s Visit
