Passengers Stone Maha Kumbh-Bound Trains in MP After Finding Doors Locked | Watch Video

Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur – On Tuesday, January 28, irate devotees traveling to the Maha Kumbh turned to stone-throwing, causing mayhem at two train stations in the Chhatarpur area of Madhya Pradesh. Many people were stuck on the platforms as passengers aboard packed trains headed for Prayagraj allegedly refused to open the wagon doors.

Social media users shared videos of the chaos at the train stations in Chhatarpur and Harpalpur. The videos showed people yelling, hurling stones at the train doors, and trying to force them open. The interruptions highlight concerns over railway administration and the necessity for improved crowd control during the ongoing religious celebrations.

Eyewitness Accounts Highlight Devotee Frustration

As people fought to board the crowded trains, observers at the scene described a tense atmosphere. Devotee RK Singh, who was going from Chhatarpur, told media about his experience. “During the Maha Kumbh, I was on my way to Prayagraj for a sacred dip at the Sangam,” he remarked. We were left stuck on the platform, though, as the train’s windows and doors were closed.

After the disturbance, members of the Government Railway Police (GRP) stepped in and successfully opened one train’s doors at the Chhatarpur station. However, many devotees were unable to board the train due to its overcrowding.

Railways Respond with Security Promises

Railway officials responded to the event by reaffirming their dedication to strengthening security protocols. To avoid such incidents in the future, officials promised that tighter cooperation between the local government and the railways would be put into place.

“To meet the increased demand for Mauni Amavasya, we are running continuous trains to Prayagraj, and additional special trains are being operated as needed,” a railway official said. During this hectic time, we ask travelers to comply with the administration. Demand is rising as pilgrims go to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the Mauni Amavasya “amrit snan,” which is a major part of the Maha Kumbh festivities and is set for January 29.

Call for Cooperation Amid Religious Festivities

In the face of the extraordinary rush, the authorities are pleading with passengers for cooperation and patience. The incidents in Chhatarpur and Harpalpur underscore the need for improved infrastructure and planning by highlighting the difficulties in controlling sizable crowds during religious gatherings.

Despite drawing millions of devotees from all across the nation, the Maha Kumbh remains a major logistical problem for local governments and railways.
