Pakistan Elections 2024: Rigging Allegations Surface Amid Claims of Vote Rejection and Ballot Stuffing

Pakistan awaits the results of a general election which is witnessing a faceoff between two former prime ministers of the country- jailed Imran Khan and back-from-exile Nawaz Sharif. However, Nawaz Sharif’s party has consistently maintained that the elections are being rigged to support his record-breaking fourth term. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party (PTI), led by Imran Khan, declared during the nation’s vote-counting process that “Nawaz Sharif should be ashamed of himself for stealing public mandate.”The PTI, led by Imran Khan, shared a document on X, the previous Twitter platform, stating that “the number of total valid votes (in NA 130 Lahore constituency where Nawaz Sharif contested) is greater than total number of votes casted”.

The party said, “Unusual number of votes rejected in NA-151 (more than 2x the winning margin)” in another post. “At the GPS Haji Fateh Khan Kot polling station in my constituency NA-40 North Waziristan, the presiding officer and staff have been blatantly and shamelessly stuffing ballots in favor of PTI’s Aurangzeb Khan.” stated Mohsin Dawar, a member of the National Assembly representing NA-48, on X.He continued, “The ECP should be ashamed of such obvious rigging.”
