Nikkhil Advani Reveals He Bullied Karan Johar in School: ‘Today, He Can Bully Us All
The director of the 2003 movie Kal Ho Naa Ho, which featured Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan, Nikkhil Advani, recently discussed his friendship and past disputes with Karan Johar in an interview on Cyrus Broacha’s YouTube series Cyrus Says. They had a gap at first because of creative differences, even though Johar wrote the screenplay for Kal Ho Naa Ho. Since then, though, the two filmmakers have made up.
Nikkhil’s Karan Recollections “Karan [Johar] meets me and says, ‘Will you hear my script?’ and I say sure, and he goes, ‘I have only written half,’ and I say no problem,” Nikkhil recalled, recalling their school days. I visited his home. I think his narration of the screenplay was excellent. I used to torment him in school because of our house rivalry—I was in the greenhouse and he was in the red—so it seemed strange when he begged me to help him.
In retrospect, he acknowledged, “I bullied him a lot, and unfortunately, everyone did.” He can bully us all now! Thus, we came to work on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
Their Adventures in Bollywood Following the establishment of Dharma Productions, Karan Johar directed films including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Student of the Year, My Name is Khan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, his latest crush is Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
