Supreme Court Declines NEET-UG 2024 Re-Exam, Finds No Systematic Breach

The NEET-UG 2024 retest was not ordered by the Supreme Court on Tuesday, citing inconsistencies in the available data that do not point to a “systemic leak” of the question paper.

“At this moment, there are no records demonstrating that the exam results were tainted or that there was a systematic violation in the administration of the exam,” Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud stated, leading a bench of the highest court in India that also included Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

“The available data does not suggest a systematic disclosure of the exam questions, which would compromise the exam’s integrity. Based on the documentation that is now available, the CJI stated that the cancellation of NEET is not necessary nor warranted.

According to the top court, it became clear that holding a new NEET-UG exam this year would have far-reaching implications for the more than 24 lakh students who took the test.

The National Testing Agency administers the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) to applicants for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other relevant programs in public and private universities around the nation.
