IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet Alert Flyers as Mumbai Rain Causes Flight Delays and Cancellations

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport flight operations have been significantly delayed by Mumbai’s continuous and heavy rainfall, leading major airlines to issue advice to passengers. According to IndiGo, the ongoing rain is causing sporadic delays in their flight schedules. Although the low-cost airline says it works hard to give passengers real-time updates, it nonetheless recommends that everyone check the status of their trip before leaving for the airport. “We are relentlessly working to ensure smooth operations and expect these delays to significantly reduce once the weather improves,” IndiGo said.

Passengers were also informed about possible interruptions by Air India. “Heavy rains may have an impact on flights to and from Mumbai. Travelers are advised to leave early for the airport since waterlogging and delayed traffic may cause delays,” the advice stated. When you proceed to the airport, please check the status of your flight. SpiceJet expressed similar fears, saying that the bad weather would affect all arrivals and departures at Mumbai airport as well as the flights that follow. The airline advised: “We kindly ask that passengers monitor the status of their flights.”

Heavy rain and strong gusts on Thursday morning caused poor visibility, which resulted in a brief halt of flight operations at Mumbai airport. After visibility was measured at 1000 meters and Runway Visual Range (RVR) at 1200 meters at 10:55 am, the operations were resumed after around 20 minutes. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated, “Since early today, I have been reviewing the ongoing heavy rain and flood situation in various districts of Maharashtra, particularly Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kolhapur, and Sangli from my office.”
