MS Dhoni Reunites with 2011 World Cup Mates Ahead of CSK vs GT Clash
MS Dhoni ran into Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra during a reunion of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team. The trio got up ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, March 26 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Nehra leads the Titans, while Kirsten serves as their mentor and batting coach. Dhoni, on the other hand, recently stood down as CSK captain and handed over the mantle to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who made his debut as captain against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at the Chepauk.
GT and CSK kicked off their IPL campaigns with a bang. On March 24, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Super Kings defeated RCB by 6 wickets while the Titans defeated the Mumbai Indians by 6 runs.
Dhoni and Kirsten: A Legendary Partnership in Cricket History
Dhoni and Kirsten had a partnership during the World Cup that would go down in cricket history. Their partnership was critical in helping India win its second World Cup after a 28-year drought.
Dhoni, famed for his calm demeanour and astute leadership, was instrumental not just as a leader, but also with his famous unbeaten innings of 91 runs in the final versus Sri Lanka, which sealed the victory with a magnificent six. His performance throughout the tournament was outstanding, with 780 runs scored in 29 World Cup matches, demonstrating his batsmanship.

Kirsten, on the other hand, put his experience and coaching skills to the forefront, fostering an environment in which players could thrive. From December 2007 until April 2011, he was India’s head coach, and during that time, the team won the World Cup and ranked first in Test cricket.
