Mohan Babu Apologizes to Journalist for Assault After Attempt to Murder Charge: ‘Media Involved In Inadvertent Altercation’
On Tuesday, actor Mohan Babu apologized to the video journalist he reportedly attacked during a physical argument outside his Hyderabad home. When the “media got inadvertently intertwined” in the matter, the actor said he was attempting to defend himself from “anti-social elements.”
What Mohan Babu said
On Friday morning, Mohan Babu posted a public apology to the media business the journalist works at on his X profile. He said, “It pains me deeply that what started as a personal family dispute spiraled into a larger situation,” calling the occurrence “unfortunate” and expressing his “deep regret.” Mohan Babu said that he was unable to apologize sooner since he had been hospitalized for medical reasons for the previous 48 hours.
The actor explained that when 30 to 50 people, including “anti-social elements,” invaded his house, he became agitated and hurt the journalist “in the heat of the moment.” “A deeply regrettable outcome” resulted from the “media becoming inadvertently intertwined” in the incident, he said. Addressing the journalist, his family, and his media organization, Mohan Babu apologized and wished them a quick recovery.
What happened on Tuesday?
According to police on Thursday, Mohan Babu’s case against him for allegedly attacking a video journalist was expanded to include an attempt to kill allegation. A charge under Section 118 (1) of the Indian Penal Code (willfully inflicting harm with hazardous weapons or drugs) was first filed against the actor at the Pahadishareef police station after the 35-year-old journalist filed a complaint. “The section (in the case) has been changed to Section 109 (attempt to murder) of IPC based on the journalist’s detailed statement,” a senior police officer said.

The journalist complained that the older actor violently attacked him and other journalists when he went to Mohan Babu’s home in Jalpally on December 10 to report about a conflict between the actor and his younger son, Manoj Manchu. According to the complaint, he “attacked” him with the microphone, using “abusive and foul language,” and then snatched it, injuring his head.
