Mohammed Shami to Join Team India After 2nd Test vs Australia as He Proves Fitness

Mohammed Shami, an Indian fast bowler, has been putting in a lot of effort to get better after suffering an injury setback, and his long-awaited comeback to competitive cricket is almost here. Shami made a good comeback for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy after missing a large chunk of the 2023 season, which included India’s heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final. In a recent interview, Mohammed Badruddin, Shami’s childhood coach, discussed his recuperation and hinted that Shami would be included in India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy team. Although Shami may not play in the first two Test matches, he might start for the Indian team in the third Test in Brisbane on December 14.

“He will be joining the Indian team after the Adelaide (second) Test,” Badruddin told Indian Express. He will be vital for the second half of the tour now that he is back, showing that he is fit, and taking wickets. Shami’s return helps India since it gives them depth for the challenging Australian tour by including him in the pace assault. Shami’s impressive Ranji Trophy campaign includes a four-wicket haul against the Ranji Trophy-winning team, Madhya Pradesh, two seasons prior.

Badruddin also revealed that Shami had had a challenging recovery from ankle surgery, especially as his age began to affect his recovery. Despite obstacles, Shami was adamant that she would only go back after she was completely recovered. According to Badruddin, he is “old school.” “He wouldn’t come back until he was bowling at his best.” Shami’s first goal was to return during the home series against New Zealand. But because of concerns about his fitness, he refrained from returning too soon. “I’ve never seen him develop self-doubt like that before,” Badruddin wrote. He had doubts about his future.

Shami’s professionalism and devotion to the game are demonstrated by his determination to only return when completely ready. Shami might play for Bengal prior to the Border-Gavaskar series, as the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy draws near. Shami’s absence means that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and possibly Akash Deep or Prasidh Krishna will lead India’s pace attack as their tour of Australia gets underway in Perth on November 22.
