PM Narendra Modi Slams Opposition for Disruptions Ahead of Budget Session: ‘They Tried to Silence Me
At the start of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chastised the Opposition for interrupting earlier sessions and challenged all political parties to fight together for the country over the next five years. PM Narendra Modi attacked certain parties’ divisive politics, accusing them of using the time allotted to Parliament to cover up their shortcomings. In the most recent session of Parliament, Modi said that the opposition parties attempted to prevent him from speaking, adding that such a strategy is unacceptable in a democracy.
“…you must have observed that an attempt was made to muzzle the voice of the government, which was chosen by a majority of the nation’s 140 crore voters, during the first session of Parliament. There was an attempt to muffle the prime minister’s voice for 2.5 hours. During the last session of Parliament, they attempted to prevent me from speaking. The nation’s citizens have sent us, not the party, but the nation. “This Parliament is for the country, not for the party,” Modi declared, delivering the opening speech of the session as is usual.
Modi stated that the Budget, to be presented the day after, would chart the course for the next five years and establish the groundwork for realizing the vision of a ‘Developed India’ in 2047. Modi stated that his administration is making progress in fulfilling the promises he has made to the public. “This is the Budget session. The pledges that I have been offering, we are moving ahead to implement those guarantees on the ground,” he said. “The Amrit Kaal has an important budget this year. In the five years we have left, this budget will determine the course of that journey and set the groundwork for realizing the dream of Viksit Bharat in 2047, Modi stated.

He added that the Budget Session is a significant milestone in the illustrious history of our democracy. After sixty years, a government has returned to power for a third term, he claimed. “Today marks Sawan’s first Monday. On this auspicious day, an important session is about to begin. Greetings on this first Monday of Sawan to my fellow citizens. Today marks the beginning of Parliament’s monsoon session. The entire nation is examining it today. This ought to be a productive meeting, according to Modi. Additionally, Modi expressed sadness over the Budget session’s significance in “our democracy’s proud journey.”
