PM Modi Condemns Sam Pitroda’s Skin Color Remark: ‘American Uncle’ Criticized
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Wednesday that the nation will not accept insults based on skin color, hours after Congress politician Sam Pitroda’s comment set up a furious debate. Prime Minister Modi asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for clarification during a speech at a rally in Warangal. “You have to answer, Shehzade (Rahul Gandhi). Disrespect for other citizens based on skin color will not be tolerated in my nation. Modi will not put up with this,” he declared.
According to PM Modi, the Congress is against President Droupadi Murmu because of the color of her skin. “I was thinking a lot about the extremely well-respected President Droupadi Murmu, who is an Adivasi family member. Why was Congress making such a big effort to unseat her? I discovered the cause today,” he continued. Sam Pitroda was referred to by PM Modi as his American uncle.
I learned that ‘Shehzada’ has an American uncle who serves as his intellectual mentor. Similar to the third umpire in cricket, this ‘Shehzada’ seeks counsel from the third umpire. According to this philosopher’s uncle, people with dark skin are native to Africa. This indicates that you are mistreating several citizens based only on the color of their skin,” he continued.
In response to Indian Overseas Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s statement that people in the Northeast resemble Chinese people, PM Modi reportedly took offense. In an earlier interview this month, Sam Pitroda told The Statesman that individuals of all skin tones and looks coexist peacefully in the nation.
Aside from a few occasional arguments, we had lived for 70–75 years in a pretty contented atmosphere where people could coexist. We might keep the nation together despite its diversity, which is comparable to that of India, where those of the East appear to be Chinese, those of the West are Arab, those of the North may be white, and those of the South are African. It is irrelevant. “We are all siblings,” he murmured. The comment made by Sam Pitroda was deemed divisive and racist by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress leader’s poor knowledge of India and its culture was also evident in the statement, according to the party.
“I’ll say it again: When people of foreign descent took over Congress’s leadership, they began to consider Indians living in the North, South, East, and West to be of foreign descent. This is the struggle of Indian thought over the issues of existence and identity. The idea that India is only an inn and that we are all strangers was ingrained in our thoughts by the Mughals and the British.

News agencies reported BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi as stating, “The Congress mindset is clear; their concept is ‘Bharat ko andar se todo, bahar se jodo’.” Meanwhile, Sam Pitroda’s comparisons were deemed “unfortunate and unacceptable” by the Congress. “Mr. Sam Pitroda used regrettable and inappropriate comparisons to highlight India’s diversity on a podcast. Senior Congressman Jairam Ramesh commented on X, “The Indian National Congress completely dissociates itself from these analogies.”
